Cheer on the Ottawa Senators

Where: Canadian Tire Centre, 1000 Palladium Dr., Ottawa, ON

Explore Canada’s contributions to science and technology by visiting the three Ingenium Museums in Ottawa. Immerse yourself in displays and activities that showcase creativity and human ingenuity from past to future. There is much to discover at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, Canada Aviation and Space Museum and the Canada Science and Technology Museum throughout the year, and there is special programming in the works for March Break.

Get a sugar rush at Maple Fest
When: March 3 – April 15, 2024 (select dates)
Where: Proulx Farm, 1865 O’Toole Rd., Cumberland, ON
March Break falls amid maple season in Ottawa. There are several sugar shacks around the city to celebrate. Proulx Farm hosts an annual Maple Fest where you can feast on pancakes, warm up by a bonfire, eat taffy on snow, visit the petting farm animals, take a guided sugar shack tour, and more. Brunch is between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekends and Wednesday to Friday during March Break. You can also treat yourself to a hotdog or smores kit, homemade pie and maple syrup products.
Start climbing at Altitude Gym
When: Open daily
Where: Locations in Kanata, Orleans and Gatineau
Challenge yourself by climbing to new heights at a rock-climbing center, with boulder areas, a top rope with auto-belay, a speed wall and more. With three locations in the Ottawa region, each one offers something unique, with the Kanata location featuring a boulder section specifically dedicated to families and beginners. The Kanata gym also has one of the biggest Ninja Warrior courses in the country.
Admire animals at Parc Omega
When: Open daily
Where: 399 Rte. 323 Nord, Montebello, QC
Bring the family into the heart of nature, driving along a Canadian safari-style route and admiring wild animals in their natural habitat. Bring giant carrots with you, or buy some on-site to feed deer that walk up to your car for a snack. You’ll also spot animals like bison, wolves and bears and enjoy seasonal activities. There is a new Sleigh Dogs activity this winter where you can get pulled by a team of huskies, weather permitting.
Get creative at Art Haven
When: Barrhaven location is open daily, Kanata location is closed on Mondays

Get colourful and flaunt your creativity at one of two art studio locations by painting ceramics or canvas. Browse a variety of ceramic pieces, or grab a canvas to become your masterpiece. Staff are there to help if you need it. Walk-ins are welcome, and reservations are recommended during peak times such as March Break.
Get jumping at Flying Squirrel
When: Open daily
Where: 1901 Cyrville Rd., Ottawa, ON
If you’re looking for an indoor location for your little ones to expend energy, have them bouncing the day away at a trampoline park. Find your rhythm on the freestyle courts, dunk some baskets in the hoops area, test your strength on the climbing wall, balance over a foam pit on a slackline and more. There is a kiddie trampoline section for the little ones and a discounted rate for toddlers. Play games at the arcade and grab a bite at the cafe post-jump.
Tour the Royal Canadian Mint
When: Boutique open Tuesday – Sunday, tours based on request
Where: 320 Sussex Dr., Ottawa, ON
Visit the Mint in Ottawa for a 45-minute guided tour where you’ll learn about the production process, significant milestones and unique stories of the Mint itself. Enjoy a behind-the-scenes experience with displays that tell stories and highlight historical moments. For example, you’ll see some Olympic medals and hear about the record-breaking “Million Dollar Coin.” Tours are available in both English and French.
