Do you want to visit Toronto but are worried about how much it will cost? From thrilling amusement park rides to iconic attractions, the city is a great spot for a weekend getaway.
Admire the big city from new heights, get a closer look at animals and more. Here is how to save money at some top Toronto attractions with your CAA Membership.
Seek new thrills at an amusement park
Get your adrenaline pumping with over 200 attractions at Canada’s Wonderland. There are big thrills, roller coasters like the Yukon Striker and Leviathan and attractions for kids, including Planet Snoopy and KidZville. This year there are two new rides; the Tundra Twister, a massive swing ride that will have you spinning 360 degrees, and Snoopy’s Racing Railway, a family coaster adventure.
Beat the heat with a visit to Splash Works, a 20-acre waterpark that boasts 17 different waterslides and other water activities. Float the day away down the lazy river or laugh with the littles at the Splash Station.
Special events run throughout the year that may coincide with your visit. Taste of Portugal runs on August 12 and 13, and there are Oktoberfest events on September 9, 10, 16 and 17, among others.
No matter what adventures you hit up, you can save on single day admission prices with a CAA Membership. Members also save on Ride and Refresh tickets, including regular park admission and an all-you-can-drink wristband.
See wildlife
Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Find all three of these and over 3,000 other animals of over 300 different species at the Toronto Zoo. Visit Australia’s kangaroos and wallabies or Africa’s red-tail lemur and hippo, among many other creatures.
There is more to see at the zoo besides discovering animals from across the globe. Fly through trees on a zipline, cool off at Splash Island, sleep under the stars at Bush Camp and admire unique plant species, including a Corpse Flower.
The zoo has a variety of restaurants to enjoy, or you can bring a picnic lunch. The zoo has picnic table locations and refill stations for your water bottle. CAA Members can save 10% on regular-priced admission.
Admire Toronto from above
Gaze down on the city from the clouds in the iconic CN Tower. The main observation level, full of glass windows, rests at 346 metres above the ground, and the Skypod is 33 storeys higher than that. On a clear day, see as far as Niagara Falls.
Adrenaline seekers can walk along the outside edge of the tower, 116 stories high, secured by just a harness. If the EdgeWalk is not your thing, you can relax and enjoy a meal at the 360 Restaurant. It completes a full rotation every 72 minutes. Or you can take your time snapping the perfect photo at any time of day, as the windows have thermochromic technology that adjusts the sunlight.
The General Admission ticket includes access to the main observation deck, and if you show your CAA Membership, you’ll receive 10% off.
Explore underwater creatures
Canada’s largest indoor aquarium, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, is located at the base of Toronto’s CN Tower, so it’s convenient to hit up both attractions on the same day. Live out your underwater dreams and discover a whole new world under the sea.
Explore a bubbling world of colour at the Rainbow Reef gallery, where you’ll find real-life Dory, Blue Tang fish, that just keeps swimming. Keep your eyes peeled in the Dangerous Lagoon for Green Moray Eels and Green Sea Turtles hiding. At Planet Jellies, you can admire various types of jellyfish that seem to glow in the water. Get close and personal with sting rays at the Shoreline Gallery and discover a variety of other rays in Ray Bay. All this and more await at the aquarium.
You can learn a lot during your visit by watching daily dive shows, listening to aquarist talks, and walking through the galleries. You can save 15% off Timed Ticket admission when purchased online with your CAA Membership number.
Enjoy a show at the theatre
Spend an evening at a Broadway show or musical by Mirvish Productions in one of their glamorous theatres. The Royal Alexandra Theatre, for example, has been named a National Historic Monument and walking through its doors will transport you back to early 1900s splendor. It’s the oldest continuously operating theatre in North America.
Dozens of shows are presented in Toronto each year and there is still time to catch the sensational hit Hamilton before summer 2023 ends. Hadestown is also playing in July and August and the show Six The Musical begins its run in September.
You don’t need to spend a fortune on tickets, as a CAA Member you can save up to 25% on individual shows. You can also receive a free coffee and coat check at all Mirvish Theatres, plus a 15% discount on concessions at the Ed Mirvish Theatre.
Save before the fun even starts
A CAA Membership includes discounts on select transport, hotels and restaurants, so you can save before you even start exploring.
Members save up to 20% on VIA rail tickets to Toronto by booking with your CAA Member number online. Check out which hotels offer member discounts and find other Rewards partners online, in addition to the ones mentioned above.
